Jim Snead Scholarship Deadline Fast Approaching
The Jim Snead Memorial Scholarship Fund - funded by the Ancorage Air Cargo Association application deadline is quickly approaching! Remember to complete the application and submit by the April 1st deadline in order to be eligible for the scholarship.

January 27th AACA Luncheon
Please join us as we welcome Steve Deaton - Network Operations Specialist for the Western Area DN, Seattle Branch/Anchorage, at the Alaska Air Cargo Associations monthly luncheon. A 44-year Alaskan resident, Steve plans to highlight the Bypass Mail System and as a 28 year postal employee with 25 years in the Alaska mail transportation - we truly have the distinct honor of hearing it straight from a true veteran!

November 25th AACA Luncheon
Deputy Commissioner Christine Klein will be giving an overview of Statewide Aviation issues and discussing the Alaska Aviation System Plan (AASP).
The AASP is a statewide look at Alaska's system of airports and will include identifying airport needs and improvements, postal hubs and maintenance & operations. Attend this meeting and learn more about the project and provide your important comments and suggestions.

Tuesday, October 28th AACA Luncheon
Sprague, formerly staff vice president of inflight services, joined Alaska Airlines in 2000 as regional sales director for the state of Alaska. He also served as managing director of government affairs in Washington, D.C., and staff vice president of the airline's Public Affairs Division. Sprague began his aviation career two decades ago as a customer service agent at a commuter airline in Juneau, Alaska, and flew as a commercial pilot in the state.

September 30th AACA Luncheon
Norm Lagasse was born and raised as a Maine-iac. He recieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida. He entered the USAF in 1982 as a helicopter pilot, later cross-trained to fixed wing aircraft in 1989, then transferred to the Air National Guard in 1994 as a helicopter pilot. His last assignment was as an Air Guard Officer at Air Combat Command, Langley AFB, Virginia. Norm retired in 2004 having flown TH-55, UH-1, HH-3, T-37, T-38, AT-38, F-15A-D, HH-60. He started at the Aviation Museum as the Executive Director in April 2005. Norm has been married for over 23 years and has two wonderful daughters. Please welcome him as our guest speaker on the last Tuesday of this month.

In Memory: July 31, 2008
AACA President Christina Wallace asked to share the following.
It is with great sadness that share with you the very sad news about the unexpected death of Audene Barlow, Airport Services Mgr for Cathay Pacific Airways. Audene was diagnosed about two weeks ago with Cancer although this was not the apparent cause of her death earlier this week.
I really just wanted to make sure that through our network that the word was spread about this loss in our small community.
