Jim Snead Memorial Scholarship
This award has been established in honor of Jim Snead to assist and encourage worthy students in pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited vocational school, college or university. This scholarship is targeted for applicants who are pursuing education with a focus on transportation, international business or related industries. Finalists will be interviewed by the scholarship selection committee, which consists of members of the Anchorage Air Cargo Association. Scholarship winners will be invited to attend an Air Cargo Association lunch meeting to receive the this honor. Award money will be sent directly to the school upon receipt of proof of student attendance or registration. This scholarship may be used for tuition only unless approved by the Scholarship Selection Committee. Scholarships must be used within a one-year period of being awarded.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicant must be a resident of Alaska for a minimum of one year and have a high school diploma or GED or proof of anticipated graduation. Please attach a copy of your most recent transcript or your graduation cerficate.
INTEREST
Applicant must submit a written essay of not more than 500 words on:
- Future career goaL
- Plans to meet these goal
- Why this particular career field was chosen.

Jim Snead BIO
Jim Snead was a highly respected businessman in Anchorage for over 20 years. He got his start in the transportation industry in 1959 working for Northwest Airlines in Seattle. Subsequent jobs in the industry included a stint at Alaska Airlines and over eleven years with Pacific Air Freight/Airborne.
In September of 1976 Air Land transport was formed with his brother John Snead. Together they built a trucking company that is highly respected in the industry.
Jim battled health problems for most of his adult life. He lost his last battle in May of 1998.
This scholarship fund was established to honor his memory and support of the Air Cargo Industry in Alaska.
